Crime Usa - dude took on the home invaders

Crime
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (FOX 2) - A home invasion led to a shootout in Dearborn Heights over the weekend, injuring the homeowner and the suspect.

What we know:

The horrifying moment was caught on camera as Benjamin Nevers got into a shootout with a man who broke into his home on North Brookside.

"My foot completely shattered," he said. "They have screws and plates, immediate surgery, and then I got hit in the back right here as well."

Benjamin said his girlfriend, who was lying in the bed behind him during the incident, was also shot.

"I know she got shot in the back, and it like traveled up and it like hit her kidney and I think it’s lodged in her chest right now - like they can’t get the bullet out cause it’s too dangerous. So, I know they are watching her and it’s going to be a couple more days," he said.

He said he and a friend had just got back from the Bahamas and were looking for a quiet night when two suspects appeared on security video breaking in through a kitchen window and milling around the house.

His friend was held down at gunpoint in the living room.

"Then I woke up, and I was just quick enough to react to grab my gun and cock it and I just sat there and kind of waited. I knew they were going to come to my room," he said.

As soon as the gunman came in, the shootout began. On video, Ben shoots his gun at the off-screen suspect as he is also shot.

In need of training are you.

How was he even allowed to own a gun when he shoots like that ?
More of an armed liability than anything else.

Worst of all, is seems like he was pretty much "waiting in ambush" on the invader.
Dump that mag on his ass, you have your weapon drawn and ready to fire, there should be no fucking hesitation. Unload ... best chance to not get shot yourself ...

If you look reaaaaally close at 0:42, he shoots himself in the foot (he already metaphorically did that with his shooting grip and positioning).

I can't believe some people are stupid enough to live around groids. Holy fuck that guy shot that gun like a pussy, that was probably the first time he's ever shot it before, having the light on was also a stupid fucking idea, I assume the hallway or wherever he came from was dark since they were sleeping so his ass was lit up like a stage before the camouflaged groid in the darkness emerged.

Read the article dumbass.

Which, in my honest opinion, is why some people should not be allowed to own a gun ...
If you owning a gun makes you more of a liability than an asset, I'm sorry, amendment or not ... you should not be able to own one unless you can prove you're able to use it responsibly and appropriately. Hell, the background check should include if or not you've done a training course ... and if it's not your first purchase, it should include if or not you've been keeping up with the training.
This is the kind of person I'd argue would leave the gun easily accessible to his kids, then wonder why his kid shot himself dead, or killed a friend ... or shot up a school.
I'm all for owning guns, I wish I was able to own a gun here in France, I WISH.
But, idiots who can't shoot (let alone hold it and aim it correctly like that moron) should not have one, period. They're a danger to literally everyone, including themselves.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but going to a shooting course to learn to shoot and handle the weapon appropriately doesn't cost that much (I believe, less than the cost of the actual gun), and you have shooting ranges all over the damn country ... so there's no excuse at all to not be proficient enough to not pose a threat to yourself and others.

It's like idiots who think they can fight after watching Jackie Chan in a movie.

Literally the: "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" saying ...
Owning a gun is and should always be considered a responsibility.
