Both can be a valuable thing though. Maybe not for a top job later or to become wealthy but just for yourself. Knowledge is mostly a good thing anyway and can help you in life on different occasions. And the basics you learn in every military branch should be a mandatory service for every citizen with 18 years. (Or a time as a civilian medic as an alternative if really necessary)
