Serious What are you most proud of that you've accomplished in life?

Getting into and maintaining recovery from opioid addiction, over 4 years clean now.

I am also mightily proud of the kids my wife and I have created. My whole family have ADHD and my daughter is also autistic. But we use our brains to have fun and don’t let it be a problem. My kids are confident and happy, despite brain types that some class inappropriately as ‘disorders’. This makes me very proud.

The fact my kids have supported me through my recovery makes me extra proud of the creatures that originated in my scrotum 😂.

I came to the realization that despite all the things I don't have I still have more than 90%+ of the entire human population currently alive on Earth. And so on the off chance I don't get exactly what I want it doesn't bother me. Just picturing the average person in China or India and I feel better.

Also knowing that we have access to modern hospitals and grocery stores makes me feel good since these only came about in the last 100 years, so I picture all of humanity for the last 200,000 years that never had access to hospitals or grocery stores and realise how lucky we are nowadays. Also toilets, some 50% of all humans on Earth don't have toilets even now, sucks for them, they don't have toilet paper either.

I too am proud of my sobriety. Now in my 9th year of a clear yet demented mind
Serious props to both of you. Sobriety is a massive struggle for me from both alcohol and opioids. Great job staying clean

That's technically not correct - whereever you choose to hunker down and push out a turd - that becomes a toilet.
You mean "flushable toilets, and modern sewerage systems".
What if the person took a shit on a pile of shit that was mountainous in size in the corner of his house? Would the pile of shit itself become a toilet?

They will never flush the world's problems, it will be piled up in a giant heap and left to ruminate in the sun until it all falls over under its own weight and splatters all over everyone.
You're really digging those toilet metaphors, ain't ya?

Getting away with mass murder is my best!
Oh really?
Let me be the first to call you out on your bullshit.
You sir, are a lying bastard.

If you can identify all of the ‘toxic shaming’ (aka trauma) in your past and then truly let go of it, then practice being comfortable in the present moment, you will achieve what you want.

Eckhart Tolle’s book A New Earth is amazing. I’ve completed the audiobook 8.5 times now. It keeps my mind as close to Zen as possible.

Healing the Shame That Binds You by John Bradshaw is an excellent resource to learn about where the ‘toxic shame’ started and how to let go of it.

You can be sober, and the universe will let you know when it’s the right time. Even if the message is fucking horrible at the time. Nothing genuinely worthwhile is easy, or quick. Good luck my friend.

That is awesome dude. Congrats on your recovery. I used to smoke crack everyday, so I know how hard it is to get clean. I commend for not only for you sobriety, but for being an excellent father as well.
