What do you carry for self-defense?

I've only ever nearly been attacked once (twice.. three times maybe)

Was like a dozen or so.. "kids", young teens.. but you know the types, a mass of uk youth

They were kicking all the busses that came along the road by Tesco in torquay
Anyway I was.. in patchwork hippie garb and just sorta.. walked through them.. but I budged one of them (not really on purpose)
So a bunch of the tikes surrounded me

I had a bottle of acid on me
Somehow i managed to "crazy talk" through the situation and started trying to give them drops of acid
But they all started chickening out and being all "woah, that's really acid.. woah" (they were torquay teens, if it isn't crack, smack or weed.. it's exotic)
Anyhow
Somehow that managed to make them all back off

Which is fortunate really as I had no back up plan

When I was still living in Italy I bought a pepper spray for €20, but I had to get rid of it because it's illegal here in the UK.
So, nothing really... I'll research for similar sprays that are allowed here though.

Our version is basically a paint so police can identify who killed you, if they find them in the next few days.

buy Bear spray.... campers use it,very effective.

I'd imagine that's also illegal and if not "I carry it just in case Paddington Bear attacks me" certainly ain't gonna fly.

I have a perfectly legal multitool on my keys but unless I thought I was gonna die I'm probably not gonna use it in self defence, and even then it's a bit too late to open it so it'd only be a hard object to smash at the assailant with.

At home there's a 24mm spanner behind the front door (just in case anyone breaks down nearby) and there's knives in drawers all over (for opening letters in a letter opening emergency).

I usually carry an S&W Airweight and a Spyderco Police, but I occasionally swap out the Smith for a Beretta APX Carry or an AMT .380 Back Up.

and police fines be damned.
*personally , i would rather get a fine than fall prey to an attacker who could abduct, rape or murder me..

We are seeing an increase in "diverse" reasons you should.

I'm guessing knives, but I'm sure there's more creativity amongst you fine folks, like prison style shanks, brass knuckles with your username engraved in em, pocket sand, a fucking pencil (because someone thinks they're John Wick), ect...
