Always, never, and forget about it.
BOONE COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -

A woman’s scalp was ripped off her head in an attack by her ex-boyfriend and his dog, according to Boone County officials.

Police said Zachary Gross, 30, severely injured Marilyn Stanley inside his Walton, Ky. home on Sept. 14.

After physically abusing Stanley for nearly an hour, Gross urged his dog to attack the woman after she refused to drop a knife she had picked up in self defense, said Boone County Sheriff’s spokesperson Tom Scheben.

The dog tore off part of Stanley’s ear and scalp. Investigators say after the incident, Gross forced Stanley to look at herself in the mirror, ridiculing her appearance.

With a portion of her scalp in a plastic bag, Gross drove Stanley to her mother’s Union home and dropped her off in the front yard.

Hospital staff said 80 percent of Stanley’s scalp was completely detached from her head, according to police documents. The attack also left her with eyes swollen to the size of baseballs and a broken nose.

Stanley says Gross became upset with her about a Facebook post.

"It was shocking, I didn't expect it, I didn't expect it at all," Stanley told FOX19 NOW.

Stanley has undergone at least two surgeries, according to a GoFundMe page set up to cover her medical expenses.

The GoFundMe, named ‘Fight back for Marilyn Stanley’ has raised more than $7,000 in one day. The money will go toward her medical expenses.

Zachary Gross, 30, was arraigned in a Boone County courtroom Thursday morning. He is charged with assault and harboring a vicious animal.

The dog has been classified as a vicious animal and was sent to the pound, according to Scheben.

Seems like it would take a lot of pulling force for someone to be scalped..Thats a big patch of skin being ripped off. That shit happins by tearing skin that past its stretching point.

His most serious charge is assault?.. What about things in the category of mayhem, mutilation, kidnapping, even attempted murder for having his (apparently strong and large) dog attack her on command, etc?..

Woman's Face Reattached In Rare Surgery

AP

MELBOURNE, Australia - In a rare, 25-hour operation, surgeons reattached the face of a woman after a farm machine tore much of her scalp and face from her head, doctors said today.

The 28-year-old woman from Shepparton, in central Victoria state, lost virtually her entire face and scalp when her hair caught in machinery in a milking shed Sept. 16.

"I have never seen anything so ghastly, so macabre as this," said Dr. Wayne Morrison, who headed the St. Vincent's Hospital team that reattached her face.

He was referring to the exposed bones and muscle.

"The tissue that was sent to us was packed in ice, and when we unraveled it and laid it out, here was a face looking at us," Morrison told Australian Broadcasting radio today.

The woman, whose name was not released to protect her family's identity, was found by a friend after the accident.

Morrison said he had never operated on a patient with such extensive injuries.

The surgeons - two Australians, one Indian and two Japanese - used microscopes to magnify tiny blood vessels up to 30 times in order to match the vessels in the amputated tissue with the remaining tissue.

As they worked, the woman was given up to 30 units of blood - almost double the amount contained in a body.

The surgeons said they are confident most of the face was successfully reattached.

Doctors say the woman will look much as she used to with the exception of scars around her eyelids and chin. She remained under sedation in intensive care.

If the scalp reattaches, the woman may be able to go home within two weeks.

If not, she would require further surgery and skin grafts.

Morrison said the woman also may need surgery to improve the scars.

"But she will still be identifiable and have her own personality. She will have animation of her face and the essential characteristics of her face will be there," he said.
