woman today expect men to be like they were decades ago. hold them to those standards. buying them meals. buying the popcorn and movie theatre ticket. basically paying for everything. holding doors,and all the other traditional stuff men did. but the woman on the other hand, arent the same kind of woman they once were.

I think it's more a biological imperative.
Women want to breed and need a decent nest to raise the off spring in.
If a guy has been working 10 years longer he's more likely to be able to provide that.
And thus it has become a norm for women to have older husbands and kind of goes without comment.
The real purpose for marriage is to raise children to reproductive age which is seen as being biologically successful.
