A man was shot dead after a minor altercation at a swimming pool in Lohiyanagar police station area on Tuesday night. The young man had come with his children to take a bath in the swimming pool. After their father was shot, the children became frightened and started crying. The accused fled after the incident. The police have sent the body to the mortuary. The father of the deceased has filed a complaint naming four accused.
According to the police, 30-year-old Arshad, son of Amir Ahmed, resident of Zaidi Farm in Nauchandi police station area, is a textile businessman. He had come late on Tuesday evening to take a bath at a swimming pool at Jurranpur Gate in Lohianagar. Apart from 12-year-old son Umar Farooq, 8-year-old daughter Kulsoom and 5-year-old Ayat, 20-year-old brother-in-law Ahad was also with him. Many people were present at the swimming pool at around 9.51 pm. During this time some people had a dispute over some issue. Arshad reached there to see the dispute. Suddenly Arshad got into an argument with someone. The crowd gathered. Suddenly a young man took out a pistol and came from behind and shot Arshad in the head. As soon as the bullet hit, Arshad fell on the ground and the accused ran away. The firing incident created a stir at the swimming pool. People started running. Seeing their father falling on the ground, the children who were changing their clothes nearby ran there and started screaming loudly when they saw blood coming out. The people present at the swimming pool picked up Arshad and brought him to Awadh Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Son Umar Farooq informed the family about the matter. Within some time, father Amir Ahmed and other members of the family first reached the swimming pool and then the hospital. The police also arrived and the forensic team was also called. After investigation, the police sent the body to the mortuary.
