Those kids trust their dad like a God.
I used to see the kids of my methadone clients all the time. I could see their future right there.
I one saw some kids of a client out side the mental health unit which ran the forensic counselling for pedeophiles. (sp?) I said to the client 'you'd better get your kids as they are not safe there.'
She responded "Don't fuckin' tell me how to look after my fuckin' kids..."
Her kids were fucked. Their future was fucked. The whole intergenerational welfare they were on was fucked. Everything was fucked.
I remember a family, dad, mum and son aged 9. Traveling aimlessly around the country, dad coming to us to detox off alcohol. Kid had never been to school, parents were 'alternative' types without a clue. Child protection couldn't give a fuck. 10 years or so ago now. Kid would be 19, illiterate, drug affected, probably in gaol. Life fucked.
And were not talking aboriginal kids here, these were all white kids. the abos are so much more fucked that words cannot do the situation credit.
One little girl had been held down in a fire by her dad out bush, full blood abo who was paranoid and kept his family far from white people out on a 'community' in the deep bush, and then out from that in what's called an 'out station' meaning some kind of shelter in a dry creek bed out of sight, out of mind.
Dad held her in the fire and then ran off to the out station with her so the medical clinic would not find out. 10 days later she comes in via medivac plane with maggot infestations, dog hair matted into the infected wounds and her fucking father as the 'official escort'. Child protection wouldn't touch it. She's fucked now I'm sure. Probably pregnant again. Illiterate, unable to speak English with any fluency, numerically illiterate, no idea of western medicine. No idea how to look after her kids, beaten by her husband and his family, etc etc.
I used to work with 24 year old grandmothers so regularly it didn't cause any surprise.
Australia has a horror in its remote areas far from the madding crowd which the media here never looks at. If you say any thing about the reality when in a capital city down south they look at you as some kind of crazy racist...

It's not guns we need to ban, it's stupid people procreating.
