They basically point the nose at the ship, use the trimmer to align the E bracket that appears after the gear gets dropped down. Then using engine thrust to raise or lower the nose to get the right AoA. There’s a hook on the back of the aircraft that contacts and grabs onto 1 of the 3 cable set out across the deck, that stops the aircraft. Pretty fucking awesome stuff.

I'd get too much anxiety trying to do that, margin of error is so slim. Gotta be a really specific kind of person to be able to do it.

I'm no expert but landing a fighter looks more manual then landing a passenger jet. He's clearly basing that landing on looking and lining up and doesn't look automated at all.
Are you suggesting that "passenger jets" routinely use autoland? Because they don't...
