M off, something caught his attention.

Harriet follows ..

After this cold snap comes through, egg watch is on.

M in with grasses

getting spread just so...

..and he plops down and gets a feel for it. ♡

Harriet in with a big talon full.

M flying out, the castle looks illuminated. Very pretty.

BAD BAD OWL!!!

Comes in low(red), fucking slams into Harriet(yellow)... HARD.

They both fall.
Owl(green), Harriet(pink)... fuck

Harriet finds her wings, circles, and heads for the nest proper.

She seems fine, though rattled and lays down for the rest of the night. M stayed put just above her.

She was sleeping good too, head tucked... fucking owl.

Was a quiet peaceful nite in the pine for the power couple, thank goodness.

Harriet off to the northeast...

M out and heading southwest..

Egg watch is in effect.
Whilst an eagle can lay eggs at anytime night or day, Harriet is known for late afternoon/early evening clutches.
Her earliest recorded time was 1:30ish in the afternoon. She's getting that restless look about her, I think we're close.
All on eagle time though, so what do I know...

Ahh, I forget.. Florida. There's no coldness and lack of food in winter.
I'm used to seeing the birds making nests in spring when it gets warmer.

They're right on, like clockwork. She'll have a clutch before long. Hatch watch close too, if not on or about Christmas and New Years respectfully.

From clutch to hatch, is roughly 45 days. Give or take.

Egg #1 laid 11/20/21 @ 3:48pm

Harriet is incubating when M returns to the nest yesterday afternoon...

He joins her in the nest...
Whatcha got under there Dear?
Lemme see... lol.

Over night... Harriet will do all shifts. She's delaying incubation by hovering over the egg verses having it tucked in her brood batch.
The reason for this is because she'll lay another probably today, tomorrow latest. Then they'll incubate them together and have a closer hatch time for the two. This is good, they'll be the same age and size. Saves on loads of sibling rivalry in the first few weeks, which is completely normal.

He aerates the bowl, rolls the egg, anchors is beak and shimmy's down over the egger. ♡

M up and out, and we get a nice close up of identifying marks, which will come in handy once there are two eggs.
