I was exploring once and found a guy stuck between some boulders, he had fallen about 25 feet down. All I saw was red, didn't know it was a bloody human at first, but then I heard him make a noise, "help me," he groaned weakly. He was still alive, but very badly injured. I didn't know how long he had been down there but judging from all the dried blood smeared everywhere I knew it had to have been awhile.
Luckily I had just come from a month's long survival training course and was in the best physical shape of my life. So I ended up crawling down between the rocks and getting to him. I gave him some water and after assessing his injuries told him to sit tight as I went for help.
I then crawled back to the surface to call for an ambulance but there was no cell reception. So I told the man I was going to be back after going for help.
I ran as fast as I could until I got close to a main road where I knew there would be reception. Called an ambulance and gave them my rough location. Flagged down a passing tow truck and told the driver what I had found. He was so excited to be helping. So he put the lights on and I told the ambulance drivers on the phone to look for the tow truck and then I would lead them to the man's location.
The ambulance arrived along with a fire truck and then I lead the EMT's and firemen to the area where the injured man was trapped. The tow truck driver came too, he was so excited to be helping.
We got to the rocks and that's where I just sat back and watched as the professionals took over. The firemen set up a system of ropes and pulleys while the emts climbed down into the crevice. The tow truck driver was chilling with me and we watched as the injured man was lifted out of the rocks on one of those big orange stretchers.
"You save my life," groaned the man to me as he was taken up. He insisted on shaking my hand as he was being taken away. Me and the tow truck driver became friends after that but I never met the injured man again. He lived as far as I'm aware.
