Is this a good candidate for Jack the Ripper? James Sligo Jameson - Wikipedia
James Sligo Jameson was an heir to the founder of Jameson Whiskey, and had much wealth himself. He did much travelling, often in very dangerous places, hunting big game like lions and rhinos. He travelled to countries in North and South America, Africa and Europe. In his last trip to the Congo in Africa, he paid a tribe 6 handkerchiefs to witness and sketch a 10 year old slave girl being dismembered and cannabalised. In his diary he wrote that she never made a sound or whimpered until she hit the ground, which is how I know it really happened having seen a few executions. When the story got out he tried to say it was all a misunderstanding and he thought they were joking, but he had worked among cannibals before and had extensive knowledge of their practices, so few believed his story. A man named Farran was with him and claimed he lied and knowingly had the girl killed, but after much pressure from unknown sources he changed his testimony slightly in front of a comittee, contradicting what James admitted to and further confusing the facts of the event. Here is a copy of the sketch that Jameson drew:
After severe backlash he allegedly died just a few months later of a fever on his 32nd birthday. He was still in africa doing research into plant and animal species. The date of his death was 17 August 1888, Just a week or two before the Jack the Ripper killings began.
James Jameson also went to the London International College, in the west end of London, while the killings took place in Whitechapel on the East end. One of the prostitutes identified a suspicious man that came asking after one of the girls that went missing, and described him as english but dressed like a foreigner and he seemed "shabby-genteel". This means the man presented himself as a respectful man but his hair was outgrown and his clothes tattered. This could have been Jameson dressed in clothes from his travels to africa, america or spain, having returned from his long trip to africa. If Jameson had faked his death to avoid the scrutiny for the death of a slave girl, then he might have been in Whitechapel tying up a few loose ends and to secure funds for wherever it was he would seek refuge. He may have been inspired by what he saw that day while he sat there drawing a sketch of it. Being as rich as he was meant he got away with anything, so he may have carried out his depraved urges since he knew there would be no consequences. The killings stopped that same year. That could mean Jameson left the country after keeping a low profile in the city and had perhaps made it to spain, south africa or america.
I am still looking into it but I have not seen anyone mention him as a suspect, but to me there seems to be a few things that line up if you are open to conspiracies. Maybe old man Jameson banished him to some backwater country somewhere and told him to fake his death to clear the Jameson whiskey name and so James Sligo Jameson may have been pissed about that? So in his down time hed fuck hookers while keeping low in the shitty part of the town he basically grew up in, and maybe lost it a bit and went on a killing spree until being exiled to his own castle somewhere. Who knows how the rockefellers and all them rich folk operate
