That's what I thought it was! An Indian Peafowl. Not sure if it was a male or a female though. That's some fancy bird to get hit by.

Love the headscarf as a substitute for a helmet. This is the first video evidence I have ever seen demonstrating the usefulness of a helmet in a scenario where the victim should have been able to walk away with just a little bit of road rash. Not even that if he had been wearing leather.

It had the long tail I noticed as it took flight, though folded up, naturally enough.

Could have been a pheasant though, they are members of the same family.
