It took him 45 minutes to die, gasping and choking, and died a horrific death.

I'm not against capital punishment, but there are far better ways to despatch a cunt.

Hell, for the price the US gvmt could make fentanyl for, I'd even offer euthanasia shots of fentanyl to any life sentences prisoners, even those with a date, who can't bear the thought of re-entering society and would prefer to die a quick, blissful, peaceful death rather than get out and rape and kill again.

Suffocating some cunt to death must have been horrific for the witnesses too. Can't discuss this without considering their feelings.

Ethics most likely didn't play a part in his decision to execute that woman.
I don't see why a death row inmate that has enough smarts isn't allowed to choose the manner in which they are executed from a list of realistically doable ways. There'd be no shortage of people willing to be their executioner I don't imagine. Also, why not atleast offer the bereaved spouse, parents, or adult children (if there are any) of their victim, the chance of being the one to push the button, throw the switch, pull the trigger? The individual is going to die either way unless there's a stay of execution (which rarely happens) but, I guess that all might make too much sense somehow. The latter might be too tempting a time to mess it up on purpose to see them suffer possibly. But, yes, definitely, just get it done.

Im also curious to know how this experiment went, because it sure is an experiment, it sounds so awful though executing him with a gas mask and forcing him to breathe nitrogen. Surely hanging is quicker and more efficient.

Nitrogen hypoxia is the best way to go. That's my own exit strategy even. If anything its euphoric. There is no pain as there is no CO2 that causes panic.

Totally agree, I think most people are watching this one like a car crash, as it's a new way to do it. (on humans) I know its quite commonly used on pigs, often leaving them alive and brain damaged. I mean hes escaped one execution already when they couldn't find a vein. They really do need to use something definitely life ending on him and not hopefully life ending.

Had Smith not held his breath & just breathed in the gases calmly, even if most humans would fight it just because that's their natural biological response, it wouldn't have been such a purported "violent" event I don't think. Also, the article doesn't go into whether or not they purged the lines prior to starting to administer the nitrogen which means there was probably oxygen in it first, which would add additional time to him passing out.
They should've invested in one of those Sarco pod devices even if it means purchasing a Swiss made item with American tax dollars.
