Geez. Just take off your dress and wet it then place it over the hole. Water wasn't going to work on a gas flame because it's too hot and water has oxygen.

A gas bottle don't explode if lit like this, but if the bottle is inside a fire then the liquefied gas inside will boil and expand causing rupture to the bottle and the explosion + ignition of the gas causing a massive fireball.
Not big risk here but still scary
