Have to ask yourself why someone would want to expose and compare in a thread like this.
I don't get why people get tattoos piercing or self harm. I also hate it when they ride on the sidewalk with their damn skateboards.

Why not? Why is body mods, s&m, alcohol and drug abuse, including smoking, ok to discuss and do but not this? Why shouldn't I ask these questions? Liking it and 'being proud' of it are different things. Making self harm taboo does no good. If I had cool scars from an accident I wouldn't be ashamed, this is no different. My body my choice, I am not advocating or encouraging it at all.
Is watching someone's else's gore any different to talking about your own? Enlightenment folks! Like I said I didn't want this to get emotional or personal, if people don't like the subject they don't have to participate do they?!

I would advise against posting any pics of your self-mutilation. Some of our members are really ignorant and if you post pics, they'll accuse you of 'just doing it for attention' and they'll say stupid shit like 'You should just kill yourself and get it over with' and other assorted bullshit. You can post pics if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it. If I were still cutting, I wouldn't post any pics here.

Smoking and drinking have primarily internal effects on the body. Cigarettes can turn your teeth a sickly yellow and booze fucks up your sense of judgement for the night. Hard shit like meth and crack, however, will wreak hell on one's appearance. They are extremely hard for any addict to come off of ; it's not like it's some secret hobby they are able to carry on at their own leisure.
To me, tattoos, piercing, and mods are different from cutting because I believe they have the potential to be beautiful - works of art and brazen statements admired by most. In self-harm I just see... unsightly gashes. Pale lumpy scars. Cries for help and attention. Pathetic and sad beyond help.
You should have more respect for your body, Bling. It's the only one you'll ever have. Not sure why I'm even saying all this, since you're probably not here to read it, but there you go...
I understand your point, but same could be said for anyone who abuses anything - including tattoos and other forms of body art. It depends on how one views the human body. Self harm just stems from mental issues. Not much different than the suicides we see here except Bling Zombie is here "live". I wonder what the reactions would be if she were to die (from whatever) and the pics of her cut up body were posted.

I think there's a difference between self-harm and hurting yourself for sex/recreation. I used to cut and burn myself when I was about 12 - I really regret it, and I don't really know why anyone would want to compare notes.
That said, I have a friend who is into suspension etc, so maybe you intended this thread to be more about that kind of thing? I don't know, I just think that either you're a dick or you explained yourself incorrectly.

I agree and I think another that falls under the category is self-modification. I have both piercings and tatts, but I've never perceived it as a form of self-destruction. I'm sure others may view it differently, but I say
I also don't think the op explained incorrectly. Self-harm generally serves a purpose, whether it be for self-gratification or some form of emotional release.
