alot of these guys look so young :( great pics
Yes, alot of the Japanese soldiers were quite young...17, 18 or a bit older. Their US counterparts were about the same age - 18 up to 21 or 22.

This is the first time I've ever seen graphic war photo's such as these, along with your civil war thread which I'm still in awe of :). Thanks again for another great thread.

71. Australian gunner lets loose after one of him team (to his left) was shot dead by a Japanese sniper. Other Australian soldiers are taking cover where they can. Before letting loose a load of bullets, the Australian gunner told the man who took this picture to get down, pointing to his dead mate.

There seems to be more pics of dead japs than dead americans. Did the japs really lose more men or did the photographers choose to photograph dead japs more than americans?
The Japanese did loose more men than the US Marines in most of the Pacific battles. But during WW2, the US War Dept censored all war photos that were sent in: a dead Jap, good, a dead Marine, not good. The victors always have more photos of their foe that were killed.

@ Bloodlust.

What was it that you didn't agree with and why just that one post? Rather than pop me a 'Disagree' point it'd be great to hear what in the post that you disagree with and why. Btw, those weren't my words, that's why the text is enclosed with quotation marks. I'll have to dig up the source.

Battle on :)
