I'd run away as well if my fear response wasn't freezing up. I'm too blind and weak to fight a stabby psycho, I'd end up as a hostage or a stabbed victim, both requires attention that could've been used to stop the guy. Not to mention standing in everyone's way. I'd do great as a help with post-fight issues tho, I've helped with accident's aftermath a few times and did just fine. I know my place in the food chain.
Probably would try something anyway if there was no one else willing to stop him, but not as a first response.
