"Dec 1917: Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
Following the successful revolution by the Bolsheviks, the Russians signed an Armistice with Germany at Brest-Litovsk. The terms of the treaty were harsh: Russia had to surrender Poland, the Ukraine and other regions. They had to stop all Socialist propaganda directed at Germany and pay 300 million roubles for the repatriation of Russian prisoners."

I don't have any info/details the following photos. I though at first they were dead German soldiers but then I noticed that the dead men are different boots and shoes. Now my best guess is that they are dead civilian men and perhaps resistance fighters that popped up Berlin at the end of the war.

But these guys look as though artillery fire or flamethrowers too them out. Either way, very clear photos from the time.

Stats about the War.

WW1 Started on June 28, 1914

Casualties in WW1
Germany: 1,800,000
Soviet Union: 1,700,000
France: 1,385,000
Austria: 1,200,000
Great Britain: 947,000
Japan: 800,000
Romania: 750,000
Serbia: 708,000
Italy: 460,000
Turkey: 325,000
Belgium: 267,000

USA: 137,000
Portugal: 100,000
Canada: 69,000
Bulgaria: 88,000
Montenegro: 50,000
TOTAL: 11,016,000

The total given is 'deaths' only for soldiers killed and does not include civilians, MIA's, those presumed dead and those wounded. The total number of dead changes from source to source and county to country - I'm not positive that any of them really know.
