Ok, so this is something that happened to me back in 2011 when I was still living in Strasbourg (France) at the end of my "Tour de France" with the "Companions du Devoir" (I was a traditional plasterer at the time).
It was mid Autumn on a friday after work when I was hanging out with a few friends in the "house", the guy who was with me at the time of the event was a carpenter (menuisier), we were gonna go out for a "tournée des bars" (a round of the local pubs, usually 5 or 6 in the night) but neither of us had any cash on us or a debit card (considering our age at the time, only withdrawal cards) so we told the group we'd go withdraw nearby (there was a bank no further than 300m) from the "house", like around the corner and up past a road.
Coming out of the house we both noticed (looking to our left exiting the "house") this kinda hot chick walking towards us with two guys. Looked back once then moved on around the corner. By the time we reached the corner of the street, the trio caught up to us, and asked for a fag (cigarette), neither of us were smokers so we said so ... one of the guys immediately asked where we were going (dressed as we were, customs of the Companions were to wear a dress shirt at all times, and at least a nice pair of jeans) ... I didn't answer, but the idiot I was with told the whole story: "just going to get some money then go to the bar" ...
I should have found an excuse to fuck off in hindsight, but didn't ... my good nature was to blame; LOL.
They said they were going the same way (second massive red flag).
The guy I was with, totally oblivious.
Then the guys who were with the chick started talking about how hot she was, we kinda agreed, since they obviously saw up taking a second look earlier, and moved on.
One of the guys then asked us if either of us would like to "spend some time with her" ... (massive third red flag), at this point I knew what was going on, or what was about to happen, but my friend was still kind of oblivious and engaged in conversation ...
I, understanding the situation, played the "nice guy in on it" and they responded accordingly, saying they liked me whilst behaving a little more abruptly with my friend (my guess is they knew I was onto them, and played stupid hoping my friend was not (which he wasn't)).
We finally got to the distributor, at which point my friend said, "ok have a nice day, we're stopping here" ...
By this time, the second guy who we were not really interacting with and who was on his phone, had already called in a couple friends of his (probably saying they had secured a target) "and out of the blue" two other guys appeared from around the corner (yep, "pincer movement" ambush style ... quite literally).
The moment the two other guys had appeared, my friend had already put his card in the machine and entered his code (back before you needed the code before selecting how much you would withdraw).
This is when it all moved in slow motion for me:
- One of the guys pulled a knife on us (rusted kitchen knife, the type you'd use to cut a steak ... pointy with a curve and standard wooden handle with two rivets, a very basic knife)
- Another moved forward, and entered as much as he could on the screen in place of my friend (after asking him his withdrawal ceiling, to which the moron answered)
- the chick moved back to play a "spotter role" of sorts ? Or didn't believe what was happening and looked around to see if anyone around noticed. (I'm not sure the role she played in all this)
- One of the other guys played the backup and stayed behind the two of us.
- The fourth guy had his hand in his pocket as if he also had a knife (most likely did considering the geometry of his pocket and hand as seen from an outsider)
The guy who entered the amount pressed "valider" (accept) but the guy who had the knife trained on us took it.
(at this point I'm not quite sure if the 4 guys and 1 girl were in the same group, since the others were as surprised as us to see the guy with the knife take the money (800+ € at least btw))
They then turned to me, telling me to get my card out and withdraw.
Idk if my "being liked by them" helped, but when I said I didn't have my card on me, nobody questioned it ...
At this point we managed to distract them somehow (I'm guessing once again that the guy who had the knife pulled out on us was not in their group, and that actually played a big role in us managing to disengage the situation) and moved back towards the "house".
At this point, we'd moved like 10-20 meters away from them without turning back, and the guy who asked f we wanted to have a moment with the chick had decided to follow us ...
He slung his arm around the neck of my friend a couple times on the way back, but instead of entering through the front, where there was a keypad to enter ... I got all of us to go through the back entrance where I knew some friends of ours would be hanging out.
The dude was acting as if he owned us at this point.
I said, "well, this is private property, you can't come any further" ... the guy didn't even register what I said and kept following us.
I then got the idea of getting him even further in behind, and pulled an ambush of my own.
The guy realized what I was doing the moment I called out for a couple of our friends, another carpenter, built like a tank, and a stone carver built even stronger.
He lashed out on my friend (easier target among us) instead of me and unfortunately managed to escape my grip and run away before the other two could catch up so we could all deliver mob justice on his ass.
Cops were called moments later, my friend, only real victim (both physical and financial) went on a drive along with the cops to try and spot the group, unsuccessfully tho.
Ever since that day, I decided to get fit, gain mass and always carry a knife of my own at all times.
Served me once since I've already stabbed someone once, got my knife confiscated as evidence, and bought another one since.
No, I did not get in trouble since I had video surveillance as proof in my hearing, and self defense was justified. Not that the guy suffered much ... I was taken back y how easy it is to stab someone and didn't fully go through with it.
So yeah, that's my story.
If any of you have something to share, I'd love to read it.
