Thought experiment of how nothing can mean something or something coming from nothing. Did you know we only know what 3% of the universe is made of? This being matter and energy. The other 97% is considered dark but not the kind of dark you are thinking of. By dark they mean when you look at it you see nothing. You don't see darkness. The mind fills that space with darkness because it isn't able to contemplate seeing nothing so it has to fill it with something so it chooses darkness. Think of it like this: If you are blind what do you see? Nothing. But you don't see nothing instead it's darkness but how are you seeing darkness if you are blind? Even when removing someone's eyeballs they will "see" darkness but how if they don't have any optical receptors? They are seeing nothing tho.
So when scientists say they see darkness in space or dark matter or dark energy, what they mean is they see nothing. But they say it can't be nothing because it takes up space. Even tho they can't see it, explain it, no matter and no energy are in that space they still say it has to be something but why? Can't nothing take up space? It does if we are blind. It takes up that space as darkness even tho we can't see it and it is existing as nothing. This is how something can come from nothing and we are surrounded by it.
