hes not violent and he doesnt need a life time banishment to the rubber room. he just needs to have his meds adjusted and then observed to see if its the right concoction. he also needs to talk with someone. vent his problems and helo get them sorted and prioritized. because like i mentioned. hes a highly (or was and should be again) functioning skitzo. he just needs to be on his meds religiously. thats it in a nutshell basically.
sorry to hear about your bro. but sometimes i think people who are way out there and meds dont really help, are better off dead. its like theres no hope left for them. especially after they dont recognize you anymore. its a double edge sword too. the meds they are on arent all that great for the brain either. they can make one zombified till they wear off. then all the concoctions thats been given to them over time,to find the right one doesnt do any brainial favors either. it comes to a point that they become a zombie anyway. what kind of life is that? at least a gold fish has a reflex when you tap the tank.
Thank you. I'm glad your brother has you to advocate for him, that's something you didn't mention that he needs to have in place & keep too hopefully. If you're his only sibling or relative that is his advocate you may want to introduce him to another so he doesn't ever get lost in the system. Just as a precaution. π
He sounds like he just needs to realize what you do & hopefully, he can do it but, he'll still always need a support network of people who are familiar with him in particular.
You mentioned not being able to recognize & remember people, my bro said when I was 5 years old he didn't remember me. He hadn't been diagnosed yet then. That was when I was 7-ish. He said that again though when I was 12 and other times too when we were both older. He had a step brother on his mom's side that I had only barely met when I was in 1st or 2nd grade that I think had similar diagnoses but couldn't remember me when we met again when I was 16. Literally, zero recollection. That must be a symptom of it even before. Back in the 70s the doctors described it to me as him being in a fugue state when he can't recognize me. I was still a kid so I often had no clue what the adults were talking about. π€·πΌββοΈ
