When you get into that HOLE of addiction and depression, u don't give a shit about yourself. Which is sad. He looks like a good guy. I've been watching this man on YouTube for a while. I'm pretty sure he said he had to leave because of abuse in his home with parents. He is mentally drained, he used/uses drugs to block things out. I've seen PLENTY of my mates do this with drugs and drink. I'm seeing a family member do this atm too and it's HEART BREAKING!!!

In UK people CAN get help for free, with the NHS or charities IF they want it. In which is GREAT!!!

When i had my Strokes and hemerage omg the amount of money I would have needed IF the NHS wasn't there is unbelievable in other countries.

Hence why ALOT of others are wanting to come to UK..

I fell hard for lsd and it's not even addictive physically (mentally though).. then smoked weed constantly every day for what.. 16 years.
Knew so many bagheads and crackheads growing up, get harassed by a guy who lost the plot on speed as well (amazing how bad whizz heads can become)

I always knew from a young age, hanging round with junkies that I just shouldn't ever ever try the stuff, I'm half mad as it is, been homeless alot from just bonkers head stuff.. add personal issues and mental issues to drugs like these and that's it, totally game over.

Feel awful for lads like this, clearly had enough going on that this means of escape just becomes... a slow end, perhaps more comfortable and easier, but if you've got nothing else going for you you'll just end up totally fucked.
Can only hope he's been sorted after these years eh

(Also in regards to getting help, yes there's not wanting to get off the stuff. Not wanting to admit how bad it is.. but.. some people do retain a twisted maybe misplaced pride and don't want the help.. purely because they don't want to be a burden. It's very hard to accept that you need a hand in life, especially if you're used to just getting by without anybody. No matter how rough it looks from the outside, pride before a fool you know. Not many people really want to be helped to such an extent, it's somewhat dehumanising. Yet, can only hope)

Not an issue for acute care of his wounds or long term rehab. All they have to do is say “help me” and get on the train.

There are numerous volunteer proframs around the area begging people like him to let them treat his wounds. They come to the users on the street and will even provide a 4 hour respite while washing clothes and taking a shower. Help is available.

Emergency Departments are not wound care clinics. They are designed to treat those actually requiring acute care. When a person sits around developing injection related wounds for weeks or months, then shows up at a busy hospital ER expecting the be fully evaluated and treated…well their expectations will be reset. They will be treated respectfully while being reminded that they are taking time and resources from people who by no fault of their own are in the ED at 2 am.

Hospital ER’s are rightly less accommodating to fools, but they will evaluate and treat his wounds and provide any necessary immediate care.

I think you’d be very shocked on how many hospital refuse homeless and have them walked off the property by security here in the US lol especially in states with poor medical to start

laws prevent that exact action until/unless they have been evaluated and treated for any life threatening illness/injuries.

Frequent flyers just looking for pain meds or a bed can be “trespassed” off the premises. It makes a good headline but is pretty rare and always well documented.

Consider the hospital’s perspective. They are required to open their doors, give free staff time, resources and materials to someone who is effectively self mutilating. They do all they can, write off the expense and then have to do the same thing to the same patient every time that patient knocks on their door.

Imagine being a butcher with a small shop and customers can come in, select the cut of meat they want, leave without paying them return to do it again and again and again all under the threat of a lawsuit if the owner doesn’t comply.

This is what hospitals are facing and no, they aren’t all huge systems rolling in money. Many small hospitals are community funded with help from the Government and shot for a 1-2% surplus. The people with SUD that abuse the system are literally killing innocent people. People whose only “mistake” was having parents that passed their weak heart/neuro/endochrin systems to them.

Today there are so many subsidized treatment options including placement in halfway houses and 90-365 of Intensive Outpatient Programs. All for free. Patients are required to work, like loading and unloading goodwill trucks but the programs find the jobs, find the homes and fund everything. All a person has to do is show up, do what they are told and stay clean.

Not so much before but now anyone wanting help can be off the streets in a clean bed within a few days. Crying about the shitty US healthcare system is a response from the uninformed.

I have empathy for addicts. I danced with the opioid queen for years, but today there is no excuse for allowing one’s wounds to reach this point.

Suboxone therapy is a norm now. It stops withdrawal symptoms without the patient needing to visit a methadone clinic everyday.

At some point users have to withdraw from it too, but under a Drs guidance tapering off not cold turkey. The tools are available and they are free for the asking.

I don’t laugh at people in the the throws of addiction and I recognize it as a disease, not a willpower problem, but those not taking advantage of programs that are no cost and all benefit do not deserve any special medical rights. They need to get off the train and the ticket is free.

The “fuckin clown” remark is pretty rough, but if the mask fits…

America provides great, and yes free options for people with SUD. However, this is America and you can only be placed on a mental health or drug evaluation hold for 72 hours. They must be released after that.

If someone wants to be an addict and live that life, America will allow it, but don’t expect to be welcomed at the ER doors at 2am just becaise a wound you developed weeks or months ago is bothering you.

Expect baseline treatment and an offer for free rehab. Someone is paying for the nurses and drs treating your wounds. Say thank you and do something for yourself, like go to a free program to stop using.

Even the concept of Karen’s complaining about the way self destructive, unemployed and unemployable at this time, people are treated when they show up to an ER at 2am with a wound they have had for months and haven’t treated is ludicrous.

Help is out there. Sign up or shut up.
