Anthropology was the father of sociology. Anthropology, the study of small populations of humans (thus 'anthrop': human)thread title was a mouthful
shock and awe. the fear. being intimidated. or what could happen to you if you dont comply. which equals power. you show your scared, that gives them the power of fear over you. that enables them to mold and manipulate you any way they want. which at that point, they "own" you. made you their bitch. cooperation. also "i didnt see anything" "i dont know what your talking about"Anthropology was the father of sociology. Anthropology, the study of small populations of humans (thus 'anthrop': human)
Early pioneers in this field were men like Branislaw Malinowsky who was interned in Aus in WW1. Due to his reknown he was allowed to go to the Trobriand Islands up off New Guinea to study the people there. Great stuff about the Kula ring transfers came out of this. He was also fond of giving himself enemas...
During the early years of the 20th century the theories of anthropology were applied to mass populations so we got sociology.
The above article kind of used both social sciences, which are really the same, to attempt to analyse the cartels violence, which is quite over the top really.
A functionalist analysis seeks to find the 'functional' aspects of social behaviour. So if the cartels are using extreme violence and torture what do they hope to accomplish by that? What 'function' does that provide?
exactly.shock and awe. the fear. being intimidated. or what could happen to you if you dont comply. which equals power. you show your scared, that gives them the power of fear over you. that enables them to mold and manipulate you any way they want. which at that point, they "own" you. made you their bitch. cooperation. also "i didnt see anything" "i dont know what your talking about"
thats what that "function" provides.
they are a plague of society.exactly.
The cartels are a scourge that needs wiping out.
US air strikes could work...
Don't forget the index of the article. All those links are live and go to clips of the tortures so described. IE 'Man with mutiliated legs' etc.they are a plague of society.
