Found an Eagle Cam project in Latvia (where 1/2 of my fam is originated from) but with the small Lesser Spotted Eagles. (~Scream-eagles in German)
Interesting stuff, the pair came all the way from Africa where they usually stay in winter; this kind of eagle is a migrant bird.
And on the site, they mentioned the so called 'Kainism' between the siblings in the nest too and apparently it happens always in this species. Last year the surviving eaglet was snatched by a hawk later. And crows stole an egg... these criminals.
It's all in Latvian and German; so I don't post a link here.

Hawks and eagles are fighting for their species, possibly territory, and food sources. Just like mine and those damned owls are battling it out. The crow was after an easy meal, I'd say. If the eagles are a young or newly bonded pair, it may take them a few seasons to gain experience in parenting, protection, and providing.
You could post a link to the live cam if they have one set up, I'd like to see your eagles.

They have no cam enabled at the moment; I think the Eagles are still on Safari holidays. Should be back next month judging after the older reports.
But they have videos on their site. The very first is where the eaglet got grabbed by the hawk as I stated above. After the first three, there are more, just click on the small photos or the green word salad with an older date below. :)
In 2018 and 19 the nest stayed unused but the pair did breed in other places. It was discovered too late so they couldn't set up a cam without disturbing the birds too much.

Harriet brings a big bunch of Spanish moss this morning. A pretty sky as a mild cold front pushes through.
3321hmoss.jpg

The rain starts and both babes try to get under Harriet, lol. They don't fit anymore, too big.
F9555901-F43E-41DB-A0E0-7C4404455B5A.jpeg.jpg

Rain passes, they got a much needed bath. E17 to the left, E18 the right. Those feets, so cute.
3321wetees.jpg

Nice and dry, looking clean and fluffy. They like the moss pillow Mom brought.
Big birdie feathers coming in nicely on both babes.
3321eesg.jpg

They both like to hang out right on the edge of the nest. I think Mom is troubled by this because she brings a big puzzle stick and places it smack in front of them. Good Mommy...

Bird's galore this morning...
Here we see our pesky owl pair. One up high on the right, one down low to the left...
20210310_022917.png
20210310_022902.png

And surprise surprise, they have a babe of their own! Little cutie...

20210310_022838.png

No wonder they've been persistent, they're basically on top of each other.
The tree forefront center is the nest tree, the tree down to the right with the spike coming out of the top, is where the owls nest is. That's damned close together...
Screenshot_20210310-021337.png

A juvie flies over and circles the nest once. Harriet doesn't bother giving it an escort, her vocal warnings are enough. Could be an offspring, probably is... but we'll never know for sure.

And last but not least, our growing babes with Mom in the attic looking like she's giving those owls the stink eye.

It went after Harriet and drug her almost out of the nest. They are so fucking fast that even in slo-mo I had a pisser of a time getting these screen grabs.

Harriet in an attempt to not be pulled off the nest, accidentally grabbed E18 with her huge talons. Somehow in that chaos she knew she had a hold of him and quickly let go and grabbed the nest rails. They both thankfully are safe.
owlhitc.jpg

M got to the nest very quickly and joins his family, they both are screaming their heads off.
SERIOUS WARNING VOCALS.
FUCKING HELL.

I thought, now that the owls have an owlet in their tree as well it would become quieter for the eagles.
Even assumed they would have their own nest now at last.
Or maybe there's another pair of owls in the wider area?

Bob the Builder lesson:

Rotten owls have not one owlet they have two, and they're branching. Looks like it's gonna be a tough go for our eagles until these owlets fledge. They're a bit older than the E's, but not by much.

The owl is that bright streak to the right just above the nest, they are fucking fast.
It flies over Harriet who's on the nest preening and slams HARD into M... FUCK!!!
Screenshot_20210313-110935.png

White streak behind the tree branch, right over Harriet...
Screenshot_20210313-110920.png

White streak is the owl with feet out front, wings folding back reaching for M...
Screenshot_20210313-111043.png

From the 360... M on the attic branch, owls wing, you can see Harriet's back and white tail feathers just below it...
Screenshot_20210313-111143.png

Neither one of them see or hear it until it's too late... Harriet's still preening, the owl is past her and to M in the blink of an eye...
Screenshot_20210313-111157.png

That bastard hits M so hard, you can hear it from the pond camera. He recovers but flies off, doesn't come back for a long time, nor does he answer her calls. Not like him at all... poor M, that one hurt.

Last night H and M on the attic branch together, E18 awake and standing up in the nest. The owl flies past him and goes for Harriet. It grabs her, but she manages to hang onto whatever branch she can and rights herself. It's right there and they haven't a clue until...
Screenshot_20210314-213804.png

It has her and keeps flying...
Screenshot_20210314-213729.png

You see her tail feathers and her feet hanging on as it pulls...
Screenshot_20210314-214312.png

She's in the branches and all that's visable of the owl is a wing right even with M's head.
Screenshot_20210314-213938.png

I'm getting really worried for all of them.
