amazon has paperbacks for around $10.00.
It's the shipping that kills. Plus I don't have an account with Amazon. But you're right, it's not as much as I stated. I was remembering Ebay's ridiculous prices.

I have read the story about this person. Horrible, as he was kept alive as an experiment. Think Nazi/ Japanese death camp type stuff.

Japan's worst nuclear radiation accident took place at a uranium reprocessing facility in Tokaimura, northeast of Tokyo, on 30 September 1999. The direct cause of the accident was cited as the depositing of a uranyl nitrate solution--containing about 16.6 kg of uranium, which exceeded the critical mass--into a precipitation tank. Three workers were exposed to extreme doses of radiation. Hiroshi Ouchi, one of these workers, was transferred to the University of Tokyo Hospital Emergency Room, three days after the accident. Dr. Maekawa and his staff initially thought that Ouchi looked relatively well for a person exposed to such radiation levels. He could talk, and only his right hand was a little swollen with redness. However, his condition show more

I don't know if the link in the OP talks about this guy also, but if not, this is a very interesting read.

The Radioactive Boy Scout

Apparently at a young age, this guy built some sort of nuclear reactor in his backyard, in a shed. Decades later, he was still messing around with stuff he shouldn't have been. Here is a mugshot or a photo from the hospital of him, grown up, with radiation burns on his skin after playing around some more.

Looks like me after blasting coke all weekend and picking my face.

It's a good book, read it not long ago

There is a good documentary about SL-1 incident in Idaho with extensive footage. One of them they couldn't locate for 3 days until they found him impaled in the ceiling than had to bury the 3 in lead coffins, encased in concrete 8 feet deep because they were so irradiated.

Look up Bionerd23's channel on YouTube, this German gal runs around Chernobyl with a detector exploring the place in great detail. It's really great if you're into that kind of stuff
