That's not my account, it's used as context, NATO certainly is concerned on what Russia's ultimate ambitions are, some of their Media channels talk of nuking everyone, that Russia is fighting Nazis, Satanists, Western aggression & they're going to march through to Berlin, they try to blame everyone else for their fucked up Special Military Operation, when it was Russia who invaded Ukraine while telling the world "noooo, it's only exercises" so who are the bullshit artists? And why would the US or Nato want Russia? I agree, no one is going to war with Russia for resources. But Russia is an incredibly resource rich land, and we know from history that empires go to get lengths for resources. The latest empire (the US) had invaded many countries for resources.
In any case, those were all small, non-nuclear countries with no proper military.
But there is a definite ambition to partition Russia into small parts for control of these resources.

His predecessor said he had no intention of fulfilling this agreement, and just used it to buy time to build up a military capable of taking over the separatist regions.

And Russia said it was unacceptable to install nuclear capable offensive weapons in Ukraine, minutes from Moscow.
If China wanted to install nuclear capable offensive weapons pointed at the US in Mexico, the US would wipe Mexico off the face of the earth.
