Of course your opinion matters! - just not to me.
The tour comes complete with a Titanic soundtrack, a dinner with a Celine Dion impersonator ( she performs My Heart Will go On). 2 tickets to the Titanic museum. Update: Due to several new bills in the United States , drag queens are being shut down every where. Thanks Ronda Santis and Donald Jessica Trump!

It's just like those stupid ass rich fucks who decide to tackle mount everest and become a permanent or fixed landmark. A cautionary tale at best, darwinism at its worst...

Yup, exactly. Or the cunts who go on an african hunt....the darkies do all the work, flush out the animal, point the gun and some rich prick pulls the trigger. I have no objection to ethical & responsible hunting but these assholes are disgusting.

This dude says it was a catastrophic failure

Interesting article

Even more eyebrow-raising are the components used to control the vessel, which includes a Logitech video game controller to manoeuvre the sub, no GPS system and single button that supposedly helps the vessel descend like an “elevator”.
There is also apparently no way out of the submersible aside from a hatch, which is bolted shut from its exterior. Not even an escape pod exists.
The entire vessel – which costs passengers more than $320,000 per head to travel on – is no bigger than a van and has no seats, but conveniently is fitted with a toilet.
Science writer David Pogue went on a similar expedition in July last year with OceanGate where he got to watch the sub from the mothership, however the experience was far from smooth sailing.
“Not gonna lie; I was a little nervous, especially given the paperwork, which read, ‘This experimental vessel has not been approved or certified by any regulatory body, and could result in physical injury, emotional trauma, or death,’” he wrote in a piece published in November detailing the unique experience.
Pogue also reported that journey to the Titanic shipwreck was full of hiccups.
He said the dive was initially postponed due to the size of the waves and a consolation dive to the Continental Shelf was also scrapped after another technical difficulty.
Days later they tried to reach the Titanic again.
Pogue explained there was no GPS underwater, so the surface ship is tasked with guiding the sub to the shipwreck by sending text messages.
“But on this dive, communications somehow broke down. The sub never found the wreck,” Pogue explained.
On a third attempt on their last day at sea, they had a successful dive where they saw the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean.
The author and podcaster later said he was hopeful the passengers would survive due to several escape measures.
“As we monitor the lost @OceanGateExped sub to the #Titanic, two reasons for hope. First, they have 96 hours of oxygen on board,” he said.
“Second, they have SEVEN different ways to rise to the surface — multiple redundant ballast and air-bladder systems.”

Sounds dodgy as fuck.

The Navy will know they are close when they see a Barracuda come swimming by holding that controller...
The barracuda will be way out of its depth down there.

What will tell the navy they are close will be the wafting of human soup floating away from the imploded hull and the herd of tiny blind mutant shrimps moving in to partake of it...

Same thing on the news here but some naval expert reckons they would have found bits and pieces of that pile of shit floating around if it ripped itself apart, it's got some big tanks on it etc. They think the weak spot is/was the viewing window that's not even rated to go that far down.

Some other dude thinks because it's basically just an uncontrollable steel tube that drops to the seabed and raises with the ballast it probably got snagged someplace and they're trapped.

Well good luck finding any flotsam from this little POS. Look at Air France Flight 447, that was a huge A330 and it was five days after the crash before a couple of bodies & a small amount of debris was found on the surface. Best case scenario for the families (at least in the context of getting the remains back) is that the there was a single abrupt failure that caused the craft to immediately flood leaving the corpses relatively intact.

It's gonna take 10 hours for any part of that thing to surface as well. It's something like 6000psi at that depth so if it imploded there will be nothing left of these people to recover, they'll be chunked, although if that happened besides the debris it would be picked up on underwater seismic monitors or the US navy sub that is nearby. It's a hell of a bang. Best case scenario they're trapped half way down or came back up, floating just under the surface getting pounded by the sea. If they're still sitting on the bottom they're dead.

I like electric failure. Dr Ballard sun had wires in plastic pipes filled with oil to seal off the pressure. The wires were cable tied together. I ne open.

These people are still alive, a tapping noise has been detected from the depths

It's a survival of the fittest situation now, the strongest man in there needs to consider beating the remaining oxygen competitors to death with a gaming controller

Not sure where that would leave him legally? But, I'd let him off - it's better than everyone dying

That mini sub is almost 13,000 feet deep in the ocean. Realistically, there is no way that it's going to be retrieved.

There are very few underwater vessels in the world that can even dive to that depth...and none of them have the capability to tow that thing to the surface.
I'm sure the Coast Guard realizes that, but it would be poor optics to announce at a press conference...
"Well folks, that craft is almost 13,000 feet deep on the ocean floor...and not a damn thing can be done about it by anyone. So, may God have mercy on their souls."

Again realistically, if they're not dead yet, they soon will be...as their oxygen supply will be depleted tomorrow.

At some point in the future, researchers will dive to the ocean floor in an advanced submarine to view and take pictures of the Titanic AND of the mini rich-tourist sub now nestled beside it on the ocean floor.

-Ward

Paul-Henry Nargeolet, 77, a former French Navy diver, was also on board.
Nicknamed Mr Titanic, he has reportedly spent more time at the wreck than any other explorer and was part of the first expedition to visit it in 1987, just two years after it was found.
The 77-year-old is director of underwater research at a company that owns the rights to the Titanic wreck.

How can any body or company own the rights to the wreck? Fucks sake that's not right is it. Serves the cunt rightv then and all the others who have more money than sense. I've just looked at the full wreck and all for free on youtube with my window open and lots of freash air.
