Is it art, music, poetry, sex?
My opinion is what makes us human are the stories we tell. We have been telling stories around campfires for hundreds of thousands of years, predating cave art, songs, literature and just about anything else. And now I fear we are losing our humanity little by little. It truly breaks my large black charred heart.
I dont even have any friends(by choice) because I have come to detest people. We all have skeletons in the closet and embarassing truths, but I can only forgive my own faults.
Does anyone see a better future for humanity? I mean in terms of our colorful past. I think of stories of greek demigods and heroic WW2 soldiers. Now we have stories of Demi Lovato and nerds kicking ass at e-sports. Am I the only one disappointed and saddened by the human race?

What makes us human is being able to use ,"conceptual designs". By that I mean you look at a river and see a tree next to it . In your mind you can see cutting the tree down and spanning the water ; making a bridge . Other animals much as other primates discover things by accident then teach further generations . What makes us human is our link with nature and the universe. We are the most advanced organism on the planet. The true “gods” of this planet in a very real way. Many are out of tune with their original natures and believe that they should shit in litter boxes. I have read so many books I could kill myself under the combined weight and realize I don’t know shit. We should live and die as we will.

Things do look hopeless now for humans. All kinds of ignorance are on parade, and it's hard for a reasonable person to deny that the human species is a failure. But we as humans have a very limited perspective in the vastness of time and space. It is possible that we are living through an evolutionary phase in the present moment and that in a few more hundred thousand years humans will evolve to something stronger and smarter.
