'elder abuse' is alive and well.
Old age homes are notorious for this kind of thing.
aus had a shocking case a few years ago.
Families are also potential elder abusers so you have to keep a close eye on family as the most unlikely members can become involved with behaviour like this. financial abuse being very common.
amongst those from lower socio economic groups the age pension of the elderly is sometimes seen as worthy of milking.
I have worked in aged care and have seen this shit first hand. even though dear old dad comes into the hospital soaked in shit and under weight, Litle Johny doesn't want dad to go to a nursing home as he can do 'everything he needs right at home' even though obviously he can't. for someone on welfare, dear old dad's pension is a great financial resource. Total cunts.
