I will add, also, that I agree that religion is not necessary for human compassion and empathy. The fact that we (most of us anyway) are social beings require it. The great late, Einstein of anti-theism and Homer of debate, Christopher Hitchens, orates this point with exemplary style.

Other than that, no offense intended, and.... I'm putting way too much thought and words into this, so I'm going to shut up now (well, stop typing anyways....).
