Have you ever been mugged ?

My reaction to stressful situation is bad. I mean, I go numb. This was in 2010, at my hometown which is super quiet and safe but It was Saturday after a week of festivities so there were some tourists and visitors, pn these days must people choose to walk instead of taking the bus so they take pictures and buy food and stuff at the stands that are all over the city.

Anyway, I was going back home around 8pm on the bus. I was very tired and was distracted watching the road until I felt unease and noticed It was just me and two shady guys on the bus. When I saw them, one sat down next to me and one on the front seat, they asked me to give them my phone and money and show me an knife. Me being a broke student I had an old Nokia 1100 phone since I couldn't afford to buy a new one. These assholes took my phone, then look at me and said "We don't like this one" and gave it back. I didn't had much money either so they gave it back too.

As soon as they did that I started crying, and because I was making much noise the driver was asking me if I was okay. I couldn't talk, they replied for me and asked me to calm down, because they wouldn't hurt me. They get out on the next stop, one of them wave goodbye to me. When I told my family about this they laughed, I was traumatized.

Sorry about the misspellings, I wrote it in a hurry and now I can't correct them

anyway, to answer to answer the thread, it happened to me a few times, the first time the thieves could not rob me but attempted to kill me, the following times I always took out a knife and showed that I was ready to fight, generally even the most reckless are discouraged
Ouais, j'en vois de plus en plus ^^

Same here now that I carry a knife myself everywhere I go.
Random police have tried to take it from me when I get pulled aside for bag check at the train station (happened a couple times since covid) because we've had arabs selling drugs openly there, but I always tell them it's just the knife I use at lunch to cut my baguette. They typically leave me alone after that (I go to work and come home in my work clothes) because it's a common thing around here for workers to have a knife on them.

But yeah, next time it happens to me, even though I didn't really suffer anything in the encounter, and now that I'm much less of a soft target I will just pull my own knife and act crazy ... probably even go in to start poking em ^^
I've already done it onc in self defense, so it doesn't scare me much anymore (which is probably a bad thing now that I think of it).

Yes.
The I.R.S.
And the FBI & Homeland De-Security .
My neighbors experienced a terrible home invasion by people wearing blue with badges, broke out a few windows then crashed there way inside .

I was 21, walking home from my local pub a 10 minute walk. Got jumped by 2 sneaky bastards.

A few kicks and punches, a couple of gunshots. 1 hour later I was taken home by the police.

The other 2 didn't go home, ever again.

Police said justified shooting. Never had any instances to date.

july 4th 1976, walking on the riverwalk in san antonio texas, not far from the alamo with a freind name of ray krebs, some black guy comes up shoves ray into the railing and goes into that "gimme yo money mutha fucka" routine waving what looked like a military surplus k bar. while ray was digging the darky (smelled like booze) was watching him instead of me, gave me plenty of time to dig my model 36 smith out and point it. the fool turns back to me, spins around and drops the knife trying to climb over the railing, so i shot him in his ass a couple times, bystanders called 911 from a pay phone.
cops found him in nearby emergency room bleeding profusely from his ass. cop asked why i shot him in the ass, "because it struck me as being funny"...

After what happened in my OP, I've been carrying a knife every day since.
And I've used it only once in a similar situation, didn't go deep (dude didn't even need to go to the hospital or anything), but I was surprised at how easily a sharp knife goes through flesh and muscle.
A little like stabbing a bag of rice, without the "grainy" feel of the rice. Pretty smooth, just a little more resistance than a tomato.
And to be honest, it actually scared me how easy it was, and how little resistance was offered.

A guy tried to. Was getting into my car and a guy on a bike came up behind me. Thought he was going to ask for a cig but he put a knife to my throat. In an instant I raised my arms up and whipped around as I wrapped my leather jacket around his arm. Fuck, the look of shock on his face. We had a tug of war over my leather and as he gave a mighty yank he pulled away with my jacket and cut my hand. Took off on his bike and I jumped in my car and chased him. A bunch of people were only 20 feet away and a taxi driver was watching, he jumped in his car and chased him too.
We eventually cornered him and he dropped my jacket and hopped over a fence and ran. The taxi guy must have called 911 cuz a minute later cops pulled up. Got some stiches in my hand. Had a few beer in me, prob why I moved so quick, if I'd had to think about it may not have come off so well.

Ok, so this is something that happened to me back in 2011 when I was still living in Strasbourg (France) at the end of my "Tour de France" with the "Companions du Devoir" (I was a traditional plasterer at the time).
It was mid Autumn on a friday after work when I was hanging out with a few friends in the "house", the guy who was with me at the time of the event was a carpenter (menuisier), we were gonna go out for a "tournée des bars" (a round of the local pubs, usually 5 or 6 in the night) but neither of us had any cash on us or a debit card (considering our age at the time, only withdrawal cards) so we told the group we'd go withdraw nearby (there was a bank no further than 300m) from the "house", like around the corner and up past a road.

Coming out of the house we both noticed (looking to our left exiting the "house") this kinda hot chick walking towards us with two guys. Looked back once then moved on around the corner. By the time we reached the corner of the street, the trio caught up to us, and asked for a fag (cigarette), neither of us were smokers so we said so ... one of the guys immediately asked where we were going (dressed as we were, customs of the Companions were to wear a dress shirt at all times, and at least a nice pair of jeans) ... I didn't answer, but the idiot I was with told the whole story: "just going to get some money then go to the bar" ...
I should have found an excuse to fuck off in hindsight, but didn't ... my good nature was to blame; LOL.
They said they were going the same way (second massive red flag).
The guy I was with, totally oblivious.

Then the guys who were with the chick started talking about how hot she was, we kinda agreed, since they obviously saw up taking a second look earlier, and moved on.
One of the guys then asked us if either of us would like to "spend some time with her" ... (massive third red flag), at this point I knew what was going on, or what was about to happen, but my friend was still kind of oblivious and engaged in conversation ...
I, understanding the situation, played the "nice guy in on it" and they responded accordingly, saying they liked me whilst behaving a little more abruptly with my friend (my guess is they knew I was onto them, and played stupid hoping my friend was not (which he wasn't)).

We finally got to the distributor, at which point my friend said, "ok have a nice day, we're stopping here" ...
By this time, the second guy who we were not really interacting with and who was on his phone, had already called in a couple friends of his (probably saying they had secured a target) "and out of the blue" two other guys appeared from around the corner (yep, "pincer movement" ambush style ... quite literally).
The moment the two other guys had appeared, my friend had already put his card in the machine and entered his code (back before you needed the code before selecting how much you would withdraw).

This is when it all moved in slow motion for me:
- One of the guys pulled a knife on us (rusted kitchen knife, the type you'd use to cut a steak ... pointy with a curve and standard wooden handle with two rivets, a very basic knife)
- Another moved forward, and entered as much as he could on the screen in place of my friend (after asking him his withdrawal ceiling, to which the moron answered)
- the chick moved back to play a "spotter role" of sorts ? Or didn't believe what was happening and looked around to see if anyone around noticed. (I'm not sure the role she played in all this)
- One of the other guys played the backup and stayed behind the two of us.
- The fourth guy had his hand in his pocket as if he also had a knife (most likely did considering the geometry of his pocket and hand as seen from an outsider)

The guy who entered the amount pressed "valider" (accept) but the guy who had the knife trained on us took it.
(at this point I'm not quite sure if the 4 guys and 1 girl were in the same group, since the others were as surprised as us to see the guy with the knife take the money (800+ € at least btw))

They then turned to me, telling me to get my card out and withdraw.
Idk if my "being liked by them" helped, but when I said I didn't have my card on me, nobody questioned it ...
At this point we managed to distract them somehow (I'm guessing once again that the guy who had the knife pulled out on us was not in their group, and that actually played a big role in us managing to disengage the situation) and moved back towards the "house".
At this point, we'd moved like 10-20 meters away from them without turning back, and the guy who asked f we wanted to have a moment with the chick had decided to follow us ...
He slung his arm around the neck of my friend a couple times on the way back, but instead of entering through the front, where there was a keypad to enter ... I got all of us to go through the back entrance where I knew some friends of ours would be hanging out.
The dude was acting as if he owned us at this point.
I said, "well, this is private property, you can't come any further" ... the guy didn't even register what I said and kept following us.

I then got the idea of getting him even further in behind, and pulled an ambush of my own.
The guy realized what I was doing the moment I called out for a couple of our friends, another carpenter, built like a tank, and a stone carver built even stronger.
He lashed out on my friend (easier target among us) instead of me and unfortunately managed to escape my grip and run away before the other two could catch up so we could all deliver mob justice on his ass.

Cops were called moments later, my friend, only real victim (both physical and financial) went on a drive along with the cops to try and spot the group, unsuccessfully tho.

Ever since that day, I decided to get fit, gain mass and always carry a knife of my own at all times.
Served me once since I've already stabbed someone once, got my knife confiscated as evidence, and bought another one since.
No, I did not get in trouble since I had video surveillance as proof in my hearing, and self defense was justified. Not that the guy suffered much ... I was taken back y how easy it is to stab someone and didn't fully go through with it.

So yeah, that's my story.
If any of you have something to share, I'd love to read it.
ever see any of these fucking pieces of shit since then? and the broad? im sure shes probably a bar fly.

ive never intended to mug people really. its only after weve gotten into a fight and theyre laid out,is when id go thru their pockets or tell them to empty them. take their money. never stole credit/debit cards or licenses. if they had a nice coat/jacket id tke that. but thats about it. never fucked with their jewels much. or if they had drugs id take that.
and the fight was just that, a fight. not a mugging either. not till afterward.

You make it sound like you were being nice to them.

Yes, three times unfortunately in my life.
Worst was when I was sixteen. I don't want to go into minute detail, as I prefer to try and forget.

This person, I had got to know, enough I thought at the time to consider a friend - he was far from that. After a violent attack, I kept it quiet, uttered nothing (possibly shock.. I don't know) although those around me knew me well enough to know something bad had happened.
After a few months, I found the inner strength to speak about it to some close friends, then my Mum and Dad. At that time, no, the police had not been informed, as I was finding it difficult and those around me were supporting me. Yes, in hindsight I should have reported in immediately, but I was too 'fragile' and didn't want anymore at that precise moment.
After a few months, with the help of those around me, I found the strength to start going out again, albeit feeling apprehensive and ill at ease to do so.
One evening, whilst being with friends, even though yes, it was quite dark, I felt strong and brave enough in myself to walk home without any of them, that was an error on my part too, but at that time? I wasn't to know that.

Trying to cut a long event short, this male had heard through the grapevine about my confiding in people around me, to what he had done to me (to this day? no one knows who said what, and doubtful I'll ever know who told him.)
He was laying in wait around a corner near to my home. I heard glass being broken, and quite frankly? didn't think too much of it, that was until I rounded that corner. A broken bottle was smashed in my face, fracturing my cheek, and injuring my eye. To top it off, as I was out of it, all jewellery, bag and anything on me of value was taken.
Thankfully a neighbour had glanced out of their window and happened to hear me and eventually see me, she and her husband came to my aid.
That was the kick I needed, and when in hospital, I felt able and had no option, but to tell the detective that came to see me all that had happened.

Accept my apologies, I really don't want to go in to more detail or divulge more.
Verbally I can speak with reasonable ease about this, though it is difficult. But pen to paper, or even typing it out, seeing it in black and white - I find it hard, the memories flood back when I'd rather try and push them away. Not just because it happened quite a good few years ago now, but for my minds sake.

The other muggings took place after my marriage. The last time was early this year.
Yes, I carry concealed knife and have done ever since the first attack/mugging when I was a teen.
